Indonesia Fact

Hello Bloggers :)

Indonesia Fact

Today, I read an article from Adhamaksi Pangeran about social inequality in Indonesia nowadays(http://ekonomi.kompasiana.com/bisnis/2014/02/09/semakin-senja-semakin-senjang-tentang-capaian-ketidakadilan-ekonomi-633743.html
It was interesting article. He put graphic about unemployment and GDP that Indonesia has. He said economy policy not just  about rationality or efficiency but also fairness.
Indonesia is rich country with natural resources, human resources and creativity. Many countries proud with GDP that Indonesia has. Unfortunately this achievement  not supported by Inequality that always being higher and higher.

According to graphic at CORE Indonesia, Java Island is central economy because it contributes 57,8 % GDP for Indonesia. But in this table we can see that Java also has the biggest number of people who live under average. It means Java Island not just central economy but also central of unfairness.

According to Adhamaksi, we should proud for unemployment rate that just 4 %, Unfortunately, he also said the main problem is not from unemployment rate but from people who has work. From 110,8 million people who already have a job, 66 million of them has informal worker or we usually called freelancer.

We should help them because if we don't they also can be said as people who live under average. They who are freelancer and unemployment need a better life. Indonesian Government should think the way to create better job field for them. They need skill and knowledge to be survive and support Indonesia to reach our goal. And absolutely not just Government who responsible for it, but all Indonesian especially young people has big task to solve it.

Summary: Political Man: The Social Bases of Politics, by Seymour Martin Lipset. London : Heinemann, 1960

Political Man by Seymour Martin Lipset (1960) majorly explain the requisites to sustain democracy. He argues that economic development (wealth, industrialization, urbanization, and education) facilitates democracy by influencing political culture and class structure. Learning from history, Lipset emphasized that a high level of education is necessary but not yet sufficient to sustain democracy. Better education will help people to broaden outlook, to be more tolerant, restrain them from extreme doctrines and increase their capacity to electoral choices which eventually lead them to construct a more democratic political culture. Moreover, he also emphasized that economic development will drive lower class to a larger middle-income class through an increased income, greater economic security and higher education. This is important because a big middle class is capable of rewarding moderate and democratic parties and penalizing extremist parties, whereas lower class society is prone t...
