Poor People in Indonesia

According to Jakarta (ANTARA News) in article http://www.antaranews.com/berita/412182/bps-jumlah-penduduk-miskin-2855-juta-orang - Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) wrote that total of poor people in Indonesia in September 2013 increase 480.000 than poor people in March 2013. So, total of poor people in Indonesia now is 28,85 milion.

Poor people in Palu, Sulawesi Tengah.

Suryamin, Head of BPS,  said factor that causing this problem is high inflation until 5,02 % because price of Fuel oil, rice and basic ingredient increased recently.  And unfortunately many people said that  the price of LPG also will increase soon. Government will increase LPG because PERTAMINA, private company from Indonesia that focus in LPG, got lost until 7.7 trillion. Poor people is more difficult to life, they can not survive just by  their selves. So, that's why volunteer is needed.
Last week, I met people from Mississippi. He is a helper. He told me if he didn't help some farmer to sell their products, the farmers will get difficulties to compete with other farmer from another states. It is that also happened in Indonesia, but unfortunately we seldom find people who want to help each other like a man from Mississippi.  It is that we need. We need strong desire from poor people to survive and we need helper to accommodate them.

Beside of that, we also can helping in education side. Because most of poor people doesn't have skill to survive and to have education. According to article that i read in http://www.insideindonesia.org/current-edition/a-nation-of-duncesOn 3 December, the results of the latest round of internationally-standardised tests of maths, science and reading skills among 15 year-old students were released. Of the 65 countries that participated in the PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) tests, Indonesia ranked 60th in reading skills, and 64th in maths and science. What was really shocking was how very, very low Indonesian students’ skills are. Fully 42 per cent of 15 year-olds did not even make the bottom skills level in maths, and three out of four students – 76 per cent to be exact – sat at level one or less (of six levels).

Our education still really low, we seldom see people reading in their spare time. So, how this country will be developing, if we don't study from people around the world. We have to be smart to survive in this world.

Wiwin (30) cooks use stove with biogas from waste of tofu. Increasing price of LPG is not influence her.

Like a businessman, we have to see chance from difficulties. We can not guarantee poor people will have great live soon, but  at least we teach them how to see and use a chance in their life well.

Summary: Political Man: The Social Bases of Politics, by Seymour Martin Lipset. London : Heinemann, 1960

Political Man by Seymour Martin Lipset (1960) majorly explain the requisites to sustain democracy. He argues that economic development (wealth, industrialization, urbanization, and education) facilitates democracy by influencing political culture and class structure. Learning from history, Lipset emphasized that a high level of education is necessary but not yet sufficient to sustain democracy. Better education will help people to broaden outlook, to be more tolerant, restrain them from extreme doctrines and increase their capacity to electoral choices which eventually lead them to construct a more democratic political culture. Moreover, he also emphasized that economic development will drive lower class to a larger middle-income class through an increased income, greater economic security and higher education. This is important because a big middle class is capable of rewarding moderate and democratic parties and penalizing extremist parties, whereas lower class society is prone t...
